We summarize for you what's new. Don't worry, this article isn't a mere carry-over of the patch notes.
Heroes, Alliances, Items, and Underlords
The Underlords themselves haven't changed all that much. Enno has integrated into the game a few weeks ago as the fourth and thus last Underlord for the time being. Also, the Underlords mechanics haven't changed since the last change.
You choose your Underlord on turn 10 with a randomly rolled-out playstyle. These playstyles are rolled out individually for each player.
However, some changes have been made to the other characters. The costs for some units have been changed, the ace effects are no longer available and some figures have even been completely reworked or even removed.
The best example of this is "Axe". He now costs five gold instead of one, has greatly increased values and new abilities.
The Underlords hype mechanic has been gone for a while. Therefore, the items that had to do with it have also been removed. There are also some new pieces of equipment.
Once again some alliances have been added. Summoner, Void, and Vigilant. Vigilant is simply a new version of Fleet Footed that was removed a few updates ago.
However, Tricky and Inventor have left the game for the time being. So also the heroes who until now had Tricky and Inventor as an alliance. Unfortunately, there is still no visualization of the heroes that are not in rotation at the moment. At least in the sandbox mode, we would have wished for these characters.
Battle Pass
During the beta season, there was still the Proto Pass, which was available free of charge to all open beta players. But now a traditional Season Pass has been implemented into the game.
You can complete each level for free, but you will need to purchase the Season Pass for 80 of the 100 rewards in order to use them. So there is no artificial wall stopping you from progressing unless you pay.
At €4.40, the cost isn't all that huge either. Even the slightly younger players can easily afford this with their pocket money. Once you've purchased the pass, you can also buy more level advances with real money. 10 levels in the battle pass are available for an additional €4.40. You can theoretically buy the entire Season Pass for just under €50.
However, this is not recommended, as you can earn a large number of levels for free just by progressing in the city tour. Also, you're probably playing ranked for quite a while. For normal games, there is also progress for the Battle Pass.
Of course, a win gives you the most experience. 400 XP are awarded for first place. The lower places are rewarded with smaller XP boosts. Each Battle Pass tier requires 1000 XP to earn. So, after two wins and a third place, you've completed one level of the pass.
You need about 25 minutes to win. Depending on how the game develops, this time can of course vary. You can easily earn two or three levels of the Battle Pass per day. So getting to level 100 shouldn't be a problem.
If you don't have a stable internet connection, you can also play a match against bots on the highest difficulty level.
Rewards for each tier are purely cosmetic items. Also, purchasing the Season Journey unlocks access to many areas in the City Tour.
City Tour
The most extensive new feature is the city tour. A map of White Spire divided into four quarters allows you to conquer areas of the city together with the Underlords.
If you complete all battles within a territory, you can equip a special outfit for the respective Underlord. We already thought that there would be such a feature. At some point, there will also be skins for the individual heroes. Mark our words!
There are both PvE and PvP challenges in which you have to meet certain requirements. The puzzles are particularly interesting. There you have to defeat a fixed set of opponents under certain specifications of heroes, alliances, and items.
In the puzzles, you can also compare your score with the people on your friend's list. We don't know the exact calculation formula, but you can assume that elements such as the number of units, items, and the duration of the battle are included in the calculation.
City Tour rewards include cosmetic items for your Underlords, sprays, skins for some items, and playfield decorations. You can also earn progress towards the Season Pass through some challenges.
In order to have access to the complete city tour, you have to buy the season pass. Before that, there is only a certain number of missions you can play.
